Silverback Bboy Events & Bboy Silverback
Silverback Bboy Events was formed in 2013 by Steve Graham (a.k.a. Bboy Silverback) as a philanthropic initiative to support the competitive breaking community with funding for breaking events and competitive breakers, as well as business advice and legal resources for breakers.
Born in 1959, Steve is a business person involved in the private equity industry, running a firm named Graham Partners, which manages investment capital for major institutional investors, such as universities, foundations, pension funds and financial institutions.
Steve was a three-sport athlete at Williams College and became exposed to breaking in the early 1980s just after graduation while working at Goldman Sachs in New York City, first at the Roxy in SoHo, then learning basic footwork skills and air moves from early breakers including Fast Break, Mr. Wiggles and their crew in South Bronx, and Wayne Blizz and the Flo Committee in Manhattan.
After graduate school at Dartmouth College, Steve moved to Philadelphia for work and was not closely connected to the breaking scene for many years. In 2010, Steve reconnected with breakers in Philadelphia and began to break for physical training, soon after beginning to support breaking competitions and video productions, initially in the Eastern region of the United States, then nationally.

Formation of UDEF and the Pro Breaking Tour
In 2013, Steve partnered with Cros1 of Freestyle Session to form both UDEF and the Pro Breaking Tour, which was formally launched in January 2014.
The idea Steve and Cros1 had for the Pro Breaking Tour was to provide the breaking community with a well-organized series of prize money breaking competitions, which would attract a general audience following online and in-person, appealing to major corporate sponsors, media partners, and broadcasters, bringing an infusion of capital into a community in need of capital.
The objective has been to create a mini-industry and job-producing ecosystem around breaking, with the Tour’s prize money events being the initial magnet to attract corporate, media and spectator interest in breaking.
Steve’s philanthropic support of breaking events is managed through Silverback Bboy Events, which supports UDEF and the Pro Breaking Tour. The Silverback Open in Philadelphia is a major event on the Tour as is Freestyle Session in California, typically run in Los Angeles or in San Diego.
UDEF is a non-profit entity and a 501(c)3 public charity with a board comprised of breakers, event organizers, business people, and lawyers with domain expertise in various areas, including corporate law, intellectual property matters, and labor law. The Pro Breaking Tour is wholly-owned by UDEF through a taxable subsidiary.
